As some of you know, my birthday is approaching. Truth be told, it’s this Sunday. For the immediate time being, I’m focused on the pending debauchery of the weekend, but that’s going to be short lived.

The day after my birthday, my mother goes in for surgery to remove cancerous breast tissue. The operation will probably mean that she won’t have to deal with radiation or chemo. Probably. I love it when the medical world gives you a sure thing. More will be known after the pathology is completed. Right now my birthday is providing a fairly convenient distraction, but on Monday I’m taking the day off from work, taking my mother to the hospital, and planning on being there as long as I have to. I won’t be alone. My older sister is coming down from New York City, and my younger is driving up from school so we can all four go to dinner on my actual birthday, and then all go to the hospital the next morning.

More to come.
