New Beginning

Welcome to

For 2½ years I’ve been writing under some small shroud of anonymity. The only people who knew about my blog(s) were bloggers, readers, and people I chose to tell. What began as full anonymity began to corrode the moment I attended my first blogger happy hour. Pictures were posted, and over time pretty much the only part that wasn’t out there was my real name. As bloggers began to go from “blogger friends” to just “friends,” there began the difficulty of keeping the blog world and the (for lack of a better term) regular world separate. Most of you are familiar with the “how do you know them” song and dance when it comes to bloggers who have to introduce “regular” friends to blogger friends. Evidently I’ve met all of you randomly at happy hours and through friends of friends. Fearing that what was left of my anonymity was slipping away, I went back and saved to draft posts with pictures of me in them. I withdrew a bit, and I was just fine with that.

Recently I’ve come to the point that I’m tired of hiding it. I’ve become more and more comfortable since June 2005 with my blog being a part of my “regular” life, not a departure from it. This doesn’t mean I’m going to start screaming from the rooftops that I have a blog, and this is where you can go to find it. It means you’ll see pictures of me up here and there with no fear. It just means that I’m not going to be shy anymore about telling “regular” friends where I met the rest of you. Will I have to explain why a number of people are only now finding out about the blog 2½ years into it? Yes. But so what?

In a matter of a few days, the referrer from the blogger site is coming down, and the blog is going password protected (so change your links soon please). I’ve brought over here my last few posts from the blogger site, as well as some of my favorites, but I haven’t brought everything. This blog represents a nearly clean slate, without forgetting some of the bright and/or entertaining parts of the past. The second phase of my blogging odyssey begins now, and this is how I’m getting from one side to the other.

Yeah, so I’m… bridging the gap.
